SERVICE PROVIDER FAQS

How does Nestwell help us?

You are probably already putting your clients into short-term accommodation such as motels and hotels. Nestwell helps you manage these multiple bookings and clients in one platform.

Nestwell enables you to stretch your funding further to help more clients. The money paid to accommodate clients in hotels and motels can be used, instead, to house clients in Airbnb properties costing less and in short-term housing that feels like a home.

The Nestwell system will work to streamline the effectiveness of placing ‘Just-A-Roof Women’ in accommodation that is at the ready, easing the already tremendous workload of these caseworkers.

Who can sign up to Nestwell?

Service providers responsible for organising short-term accommodation for their clients, across the insurance, social services and disaster response sectors. This makes up the demand side of the platform.

Existing Airbnb hosts can also sign up and can use all the information from their current Airbnb listing. This is the supply side of the platform. New hosts can join Airbnb to become a part of the Nestwell system by signing up to Airbnb through the regular Airbnb process.

How is this different to Airbnb?

Airbnb is targeted at tourists and visitors. Nestwell is targeted at those in need of emergency short-term accommodation, more specifically ‘Just-A-Roof Women’. Nestwell works like Airbnb, but for crisis accommodation. It allows service providers who arrange short-term accommodation for their clients to manage and have visibility over multiple properties.

As a service provider, you deal directly with the property owner or host (not your client). The host does not need to know any of your client’s details or about their circumstances. This can be altered depending on the case of the hosts and the client.

Who is liable?

It is the service provider, not the client, who is entering into a contract with the host / owner of the property. Therefore, the service provider is responsible for assessing the needs of the client and their suitability for being housed off-site in an Airbnb property. The service provider is ultimately liable for any damage the client does to the property.

What kind of client does Nestwell help?

When triaging their clients, service providers should refer those with low needs (ie accommodation only) to Nestwell. Low needs clients are those who can live independently off-site with minimal need for allied services and additional support.

Who are ‘Just-A-Roof Women’?

‘Just-A-Roof Women’ represent the demographic of women who have unexpectedly encountered housing insecurity as a result of a life event such as a relationship breakdown, or sudden job loss. They need a roof above their heads during this period of re-adjustment and planning, but are otherwise resilient, independent and capable of helping themselves with minimal need for allied services or additional support.
